What's New for 2016!

Posted by Webfoot Juniors Volleyball Club on Oct 24 2015 at 01:06PM PDT

Hi Families! The club season is almost upon us so I wanted to post some new things for the upcoming year.

First off, though, the tryout dates and times have been posted on the Website. (LINKS-2016 Tryouts-Tryout Registration-2016 Club Fees) The u13’s and u14’s start Sunday, Nov. 1, the 11’s and 12’s start Sunday, Nov. 15th and the u15’s, u16’s, u17’s and u18’s start Sunday, Nov, 22nd. Remember to renew your membership with CEVA and bring the necessary paperwork with you to tryouts! Please share these dates, and our website address to anyone you know that wants to join Webfoot for the first time this year.

NEW THIS YEAR: PARENT MEETING ON THE FIRST DAY OF TRYOUTS! We are going to have a mandatory parent meeting for about 45 minutes on the first day of tryouts for each age group. So please plan on having one parent stay and take part in this meeting that will be at the fairgrounds. We will still be holding New Parent meetings for those who have not played club volleyball before and those dates are posted on the calendar.

We are going to do High School Academy again this year to fill that gap between the high school season and club tryouts. This pre-tryout camp will be on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:30-7:30 at the fairgrounds beginning Oct. 27th. It will be three weeks and will end Nov. 12th. The cost is $100. To sign up you need to email me at vballnelson5@gmail.com to reserve a spot.

The week before tryouts is a dead period so coaches are not allowed to work with players but we will have an open gym or two that week.

NEW PROGRAMMING:

For those of you that are Juniors in high school this year you would be glad to know that we have a coach and plan on having a u17’s short season, light commitment team. The plan is for this team to practice only 1 time a week and play only the CEVA power league and regionals – any other tournaments would be added at the request of the team. The idea is to keep playing during that tough junior year at school and keep the price down. You will still need to come to tryouts however and be ready to commit to the team.

We also plan on continuing our Academy Program for Grade School and Middle School players that want to continue training but either don’t want to play on a team or do not make a full season team. This will be a low cost option that will keep weekends free but will allow the players to get great volleyball training. Academy training will be on Tuesday/Thursday from 4:00-5:30 beginning in January and going through April.

So unlike the past seasons when everyone that tried out at the 12’s and 14’s level were placed on a team this year some players will make teams and some will make academy. We feel this is a better way to develop players skills that need more repetition and training and don’t necessarily benefit from the long tournament days.

If you have any questions about either of these programming changes be sure to ask!

NEW FINANCIAL INFORMATION

The 2016 club fees have also been updated on the website. After several years of no or minimal price increase we were forced to increase the fees for all of our teams this year. The teams that stay overnight in hotels saw the biggest increases because hotel costs have been going up dramatically over the past few years. We were trying to cover those cost increases within our existing price but found we could not do that .

Another change to our financial structure is that we can no longer pay the credit card fees that come each time we process a credit card for payment. We don’t want to charge everyone in the club more to cover these fees so it will become a user fee. If you would like to make payments for club on your credit card you will be assessed a 3% fee. This is one of those things we have been trying to just take care of but as more and more people have been paying with credit cards we just cannot pay those fees.

Again, ask if you have questions about these changes.

All of us at Webfoot are looking forward to another great year!

GO WEBFOOT!

Cathy
